Spyware Terminator Roadmap for 2007

This is a list of features which we plan to implement in 2007 for Spyware Terminator.

User experience

User interface improvements (Q2 2007)

We will develop a new user interface which will be easy to use for novices yet robust enough for skilled users. ST will have two modes: basic users and advanced users interfaces.

Help system enhancement (Q2 2007)

We will redesign the current help system, which assists users in finding the answers to their problems. For the best user experience, we will add a troubleshooting wizard, which can quickly help users resolve common problems instead of having to contact our support and wait for answers.

Real-time shield settings redesign (Q2/Q3 2007)

We will focus on redesigning the real-time shield system making it both easy to use and a powerful function of Spyware Terminator.

New installer of ST (Q2/Q3 2007)

We will create a new installer for Spyware Terminator with a new installation schema: a user can install ST from a one-time scanner to a complex system using the Real-Time shield. If a user wants to use ST only as a one-time scanner then there is no need to set antivirus and other functions which the user won’t be using.

Protection improvements

ST Certified Save Database (Q1/Q2 2007)

A database of trusted software can be installed on each computer. These would include standard operation system components, Microsoft Office, browsers and other typical software. We will support a wide range of Windows versions from Win98 to Windows Vista. This function of ST will help us fight against false-positive feedback and should dramatically decrease the number of notification windows a user has to deal with.

Installer support (Q2/Q3 2007)

One of our major goals is to simplify the Real-Time shield and only alert users about issues that truly require their decision. We will be analyzing all our common installer packages and improve RS & HIPS to identify the entire installation process as one operation - this way there will be just one warning window during the setup process.

ST Heuristic Threat Ranking System (Q2 – Q4 2007)

We will develop a smart system for supervising computer security. This intelligent system can evaluate a computer’s activity and alert the user about suspicious instances.

Other enhancements (Q1 – Q4 2007)

We are prepared to fight against spyware and other parasite software throughout the year and we will be continuously developing new methods to fight against them as well.

Web Security Guard (Q1/Q2 2007)

A Spyware Terminator spin-off, Web Security Guard will be an optional component of the installation process. We will be focusing on user awareness improvements during their web browsing sessions. The product is intended to warn users before they enter websites that are known distributors of threats or use questionable practices.

Miscellaneous

Spyware Terminator portable scanner (Q1 – Q4 2007)

A portable version of Spyware Terminator will be developed for USB flash disks, CDs and/or other items. Users can carry it with them and use it wherever and whenever they need to, without installation.

IM protection (Q3/Q4 2007)

IM protection will protect users from worms when they use their instant messaging system. We will support ICQ 5.1, Skype and MSN.
