How do I configure Outlook Express 6 to send and receive mail from my Crawler email account?
To configure your Email client manually with Outlook Express 6:
Open Outlook Express.
Click on the "Tools" menu, and select the "Accounts..." option.
Click on the "Add" button and then click the "Mail..." option.
Enter your name in the "Display name:" field, and click on the "Next" button.
Enter your full Crawler email address (email@example.com) in the "Email address:" field, and click on the "Next" button.
Enter "my.crawler.com" in the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:" field.
Enter "my.crawler.com" in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:" field.
Click on the "Next" button.
Enter your Crawler.com username (including '@crawler.com') in the "Account name:" field. Enter your Crawler.com password in the "Password:" field, and click on the "Next" button. If you do not want to fill out the password everytime you receive or send message(s), select the "Remember password" checkbox. Do not select the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication(SPA)" checkbox!
Click on the "Finish" button.
Now you have set your POP3 server to be able to receive incoming mail.
To activate the sending of mail, follow these steps: Highlight the "my.crawler.com" line and click on the "Properties" buttton.
Click on the "Servers" tab, and select the "My server requires authentication" checkbox.
Click on the "OK" button.
If your ISP provider blocks the default SMTP port 25, you may use alternate ports 465 or 587 to send your emails. To change the default SMTP port, click on the "Advanced" tab on Internet E-mail Settings, and type the alternate port number into the "Outgoing server (SMTP): column.
Congratulations! You've just configured your email client to send and receive Crawler messages.
